Empowering Parents in the Digital Age: RMCC’s Insightful Workshop at JP High School – Gurukul Branch
In today’s fast-paced, screen-saturated world, parenting has taken on new dimensions — filled with challenges, questions, and the constant need to adapt. Recognizing this, the RMCC Counselling Team recently hosted a dynamic and impactful parenting workshop at JP High School – Gurukul Branch on 11th July 2025. The session brought together over 60 enthusiastic parents from Nursery to Grade 8, all eager to discover new strategies to support their children’s growth in an increasingly digital world.
Titled “Parenting in the Digital Age”, the workshop was built around three essential themes that resonate deeply with modern families:
- Building Healthy Hygiene Habits
- Effective and Emotionally Smart Parenting
- Managing & Reducing Screen Time in Young Children
What made this workshop truly stand out was its interactive and age-responsive format. Far from being a lecture, it was a vibrant exchange — filled with relatable stories, practical tools, and moments of real reflection. The session addressed everyday struggles parents face, especially when raising children in early and middle childhood, and provided concrete, doable strategies that could be implemented right away at home.
Facilitated by experts from the RMCC Counselling Team, the session helped parents learn how to:
- Turn daily hygiene routines into fun, engaging activities led by the child
- Respond to behavioral issues with empathy, while maintaining healthy boundaries
- Set up screen-free zones and routines without triggering resistance or guilt
- Role model digital and lifestyle habits that children naturally begin to follow
Tools like structured habit charts, storytelling techniques, and clear communication frameworks were shared to help parents not just understand, but confidently apply the insights gained.
The workshop concluded with a lively Q&A and reflection circle, where many parents shared their insight and also discovered new ways to bond with their child, to setting simple goals like a no-phone dinner time or a reward chart for brushing teeth.
Workshops like these are part of RMCC’s ongoing efforts to support families and build a strong connection between home and school. After all, when parents feel supported and informed, children benefit the most — both at home and in the classroom.
