Strategies for School counseling in the New Era

On October 7th, the Ramdhar Maheshwari Career Counseling Center (RMCC) hosted the “Strategies for School Counseling in the New Era” workshop on account of World Mental Health Day. This event was skilfully organized by RMCC, featuring Dr. Avinash Desousa as the keynote speaker. Dr. Desousa, a renowned expert in mental health and education, guided the audience through a captivating exploration of contemporary school counseling strategies.

The workshop drew a diverse and engaged audience of 40 counselors and special educators from nearly 20-plus schools across the city. With the ever-changing educational landscape, the focus on new-era school counseling strategies was timely and crucial.
The workshop began with a warm introduction to RMCC and Dr. Avinash Desousa. Attendees shared their experiences and concerns, making it a two-way exchange of knowledge.

A fun and interactive trivia session provided a refreshing break and fostered engagement among participants. The second session delved deeper into “Socio-Emotional Needs of Students” and the challenges of “ADHD and ASD within the School Environment.” Dr. Desousa’s captivating storytelling and real-life scenarios prompted the audience to ponder, reflect, and even laugh at the complexities of these issues. This practical and relatable approach left a lasting impact, fostering a sense of collective responsibility for students’ well-being.

A well-deserved snack break allowed participants to recharge and network. The workshop’s second half further explored “Contemporary Challenges in Education” and offered insights into “Effective Parental Engagement Strategies.” Dr. Desousa’s thought-provoking examples and scenarios kept the audience engaged, encouraging critical thinking and introspection. The discussions left participants empowered and committed to implementing these strategies in their roles.
The event concluded with an interactive Q&A session and a heartfelt vote of thanks. Dr. Desousa’s use of relatable examples transformed the workshop into an immersive learning experience, making the topics discussed directly applicable to the participants’ educational roles.

This positive response, along with the increased networking opportunities, has motivated the RMCC Team to continue organizing similar workshops in the future. The audience’s enthusiasm and active engagement underscored the demand for these educational events, reinforcing RMCC’s commitment to delivering future workshops. These workshops will continue to empower and connect professionals in the field of education while offering essential, need-based services in career development, mental health, and education. This collective effort is certain to illuminate a more informed and promising future within the education sector.
